ADVERTISEMENT FOR A CARETAKER SGB POST.

Olifantsfontein Primary school is advertising a Care-taker post, with the following Key Performance indicators/Area of focus.

Key Performance indicators/ Area of focus.

1. Supervise all Public Service staff, and be able to compile a report every Friday.

2. Control all entry and exit points at school, in conjunction with the school security.

3. Be able to deal with incidents at school after hours, including receiving deliveries, after consulting with the principal.

4. Supervise service providers after hours and on weekends.

5. Be able to do all school soft maintenance responsibilities, relying on his/her artisan skills, such as leaking taps, replacing broken windows, replacing damaged doors, fixing broken doors handles, chairs and desk, etc.

6. Responsible for all schools keys and remote controls, together with the principal.

7. Be able to drive learners for co-extra curriculum activities e.g. spelling Bee, Segarona, etc. during contact hours, especially when participants are few.

8. Conduct regular inspecting throughout the school, including working tools and machines for groundman.


Outputs/ Roles.

1. Report all findings for consideration and way forward.

2. At no stage should access control systems, including doors and burglars gates be left unattended/ open.

3. Deal with all after hours delegated responsibilities, including signing consignment notes and deliveries.

4. Report any untoward behaviour by service providers, including consumption of liquor and other intoxicating substances.

5. Deal with all soft/blue color skills/maintenance of the school.

6. Control all school keys.

7. Driver’s License is an added advantage.

8. Compile list of maintenance areas and faulty working equipment's for management consideration.


The incumbent should be in possession of any soft skills/ blue color qualification from an Artisan School or TVET College, even if he/she does not have matric certificate. Matric Certificate is an added advantage though.


Application should be submitted to school in person, for control and safe-keeping purposes.


Closing date for all applications will be 14 April 2023.


Shortlisting will be done on the 19 April 2023, whilst interviews will be conducted on the 22 April 2023.

Assumption of duty will be on the 2nd May 2023
